Healthy Baked Apple Roses

Apple roses are one of the beautiful autumn desserts in which the apples are beautifully styled as roses and then baked as a pastry. Usually, the puff pastry is made up of all-purpose flour which I again don't prefer in my baking. Hence, here I have made a quick whole wheat pastry dough which is much healthier and filling. I like refined sugar free desserts. I am always in search of ingredients that can replace refined sugar. So in this recipe, I have used organic maple syrup which gives both the apple slices as well as the pastry a beautiful sweet flavor. Usually, these are made by rolling a row of half apple slices and attached with pastry dough. And the end result resembles the shape of a rose flower. These will come out so beautiful that you will think about whether to eat or put it for display!! Use a softer variety of apples like Fuji, pink lady, or gala. I would prefer a very sharp knife to cut thin slices of apples. Making a rose out of apple slices ...

Whole wheat Cinnamon Pistachio Biscottis

Biscottis are basically Italian biscuits that originated in the tuscan city of Prato. These are usually oblong shaped, twice baked, dry, and crunchy biscuits best for your breakfast or evening tea time. These are super easy to make and you will never go back to the store-bought ones. Totally customizable, you can make any flavor you want. The basic recipe remains the same with just the change in the flavor. Since I always prefer a healthier alternative., I made these eggless biscotti with whole wheat flour and coconut sugar. I added pistachios that were in hand and cinnamon for that fall vibes which I am literally waiting to start!! These can easily be made vegan by using dairy-free milk and butter. Definitely a great snack option, especially for kids to pack in their snack box or to give them as an after school snack. Since these days my daughter is attending an online school, she likes to munch on them during the break time. It keeps her filling an...

Whole wheat Boule Bread

In French, boule means ball, and this is the shape the original bread makers would make their dough into. It is a hearty, squashed ball-shaped loaf. It can be made with any flour, leavened with commercial yeast or even sourdough. It may seem difficult to bake such a beautiful artisan bread. But trust me you can bake this perfectly by following the Instructions properly. The aroma of the bread in your kitchen when it's baked is just so good. The outer crust is perfectly crisp and inside it is soft and moist. Again this recipe you must try because mainly it is whole wheat and secondly you don't need a Dutch oven. You just need your Cast iron pan to bake this. I always opt to make my baked goods as healthier as possible. So I can serve it to my family guilt-free. I am not a regular baker since Indian food is cooked on a stovetop. But when I do, I make sure it has some nutrition along with the taste. You will just need a few basic ing...

Whole Wheat BlueBerry Galette

Blueberry Galette is a classic favorite treat that is easy to make and easily customizable. Galette is basically a pastry dough wrapped around fresh fruits. They are originally a French dessert, which can be made without any tools and looks so beautiful and rustic. You can add in any seasonal fruit that you get and it tastes absolutely delicious with the bursting flavors of that fruit. And blueberry is one such flavorful fruit that we will be using in this recipe. This recipe is definitely much healthier than the usual one mainly in terms of the replacement of All purpose flour and refined sugar with Wholewheat flour and Coconut sugar. You must be knowing that All-purpose flour available in the market is so processed and refined that it doesn't contain any nutritional values. The same is the case with Refined sugar. Hence I always try to make sure that I use healthier alternatives in my recipe which also makes for a delicious dish. Now speaking a...
